Happy New Year!!

Here it is, just hours away from the new year! I'm sitting in my office packing for a day of scrapbooking tomorrow with my best friend. My oldest daughter is having fun with her best friend and family, camping in New Mexico and my other three children are playing our new Wii we got for Christmas, in the living room. Life is good.

Here's to 2010!

YUMMY!! Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

I do not bake homemade cookies very often. Mainly because I hate the mess of making them and the time it takes for each batch to cook. But this year I ran across a interesting sugar cookie recipe that I just HAD to try. After making and eating a few cookies, I have to say that I may never buy store bought sugar cookies again!

If you are wanting to make these cookies please visit my CTMH sister Karen Pedersen for her wonderful Sour Cream Sugar Cookie recipe!

Snowman Birthday Invitations

My youngest daughter's birthday is December 20th. Being so close to Christmas I was not sure if she wanted a Christmas theme or something else. She decided that she wanted a Snowman Birthday Party. I was very excited because I just bought the new Cricut cartridge Snow Friends and new it would be perfect.

I created the card using Close To My Heart's Wishes Card Confidence Program. I chose the Roundabout design since the circle reminded me of a big snow ball. Perfect for snowmen. Since she is invited both girls and boys we had to make both boy and girl invitations. I really liked how they turned out and hope our guests like them too.

My Christmas Candle Arrangement

This was my Black Friday find that I made. Went to Michael's and bought the tray, candle holders, and some sparkly floral. Found the silver ornaments at Target. I hot glued it all down on the tray then got some putty so I could temporally hold it on the counter. My kids have knocked off to many things from my counter that I have finally learned my lesson. LOL!!

Thanksgiving Table Setting

I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house this year wanted to make up some table settings for my guests. I used Close To My Heart's cute Thanksgiving set called CELEBRATION FEAST. This set features Indian and Pilgrim children along with a nice fat turkey and a few other accent stamps. For my color choice I decided to use Cocoa and Barn Red. I also used some paper scraps from our Grace collection. I had planed on coloring in my images with our markers but I just did not like the look so I used plain old color pencil instead. Since these are just for my table Crayola Colored Pencils worked just fine. On Thanksgiving Day my table settings will not be so fancy as I plan on using paper plates and napkins to help cut back on dish washing and easy clean up. :)

Cricut: Fall Wreath

I saw this great idea on You Tube using paper to create this beautiful fall wreath, so I just had to try it!

You will need:

Cricut: Speaking of Fall cartridge (pg 31 in 3" and 5", pg 50 in 6", 8"and 91/2", pg 54 in 4" and 6")

Foam Wreath

Wide wire ribbon ( I ended up using a whole roll for mine including the bow)

Fall Scrapbook Pattern Paper

Hot Glue Gun

Brown Ink

First you will wrap your wreath in the wide ribbon. I hot glued mine one to make it super simple. You could also pin it on. Then I cut out my leaves out with my cricut in several sizes and inked all the edges. Once all my leaves were cut out and inked I then adhered them on my wreath with hot glue. This seemed to be the fastest and simplest way to get them on. When placing them on my wreath I started with my larger leaves then filled in with the small ones all going in one direction. Do this until your wreath looks the way you want it. To be able to hang my I created a loop with the ribbon and hot glued that on the back. I also created a bow with the extra ribbon and hot glued it on the front of the wreath. That it! A gorgeous hand-made wreath that all your friends and family will love.

O Christmas Tree

I am so off on my days with yesterday being a day off from school for the kids. I feel like it is Monday. Anyways here is another fun Christmas card using the same design as last weeks card just being changed up a little bit.

This card was again made with Close To My Heart's Jingle Paper Packet. The stamp set I used Evergreen. This set has 6 different trees you can use along with two different bases, sayings and a few small accent stamps. Along with the paper and stamp set I used our new Cranberry Ribbon Round Collection and our Liquid Glass to create the clear dots and over the base of the tree to make it look shinny. Liquid Glass is one of my favorite versatile products that is a must have for any scrapper and stamper! For a finishing touch I had to had some bling to my card so I added just a little bit of yellow Stickles to my start on top of the tree.

40th Birthday Card

A scrapbook friend of my turned 40 this year on Halloween. I don't like to give Halloween birthday cards because I am sure those who are born on Holiday's tend to get a lot of those types of cards. Instead I created this card using the Wild Card cartridge from Cricut. I chose the wedding cake card and made it into a 40th Birthday Card. I cut out the card in two colors (white daisy and twilight) inked all the edges in Chocolate and then embossed each card by running it through my Cuttlebug. Once embossed I cut out each layer and painted it with Close To My Heart's Create-a-Shade Pearl paint. This gave each piece a shimmer to it. After letting the pieces dry I then assembled the cake. For the final touch I painted the numbers in the same pearl paint, inked them and attached them to the card.

Pumpkin Card

Today I am at home and enjoying all the beautiful snow that is falling outside my office window. We could get up to 24" of snow by they end of Thursday. The kids are hoping for a "snow day" tomorrow. They may just get their wish!
Here is a spooky little card I made using the Cricut cartridge Wild Card. I am finding that this cartridge is not as user friendly as the other cartridges. I would have like to have more paper piecing options rather than having to cut the card out a few time in order to get all the colors I needed. All in all I do like it and plan to create some more cards today.

Happy Halloween!

Sorry For Being MIA

This month has been a sick month for me. Last week I came down with what I thought was a bad cold. Then last night I ended up in the ER with difficulty breathing, a pain in my right shoulder and right lung. Had a few test done along with some ex rays to find out that I have Pneumonia in my right lung. Needless to say I have not been doing a whole lot of scraping or card making. As soon as I am well I will get creating again.

Halloween & Thanksgiving Cards

My friend and I had a blast creating cards all afternoon for World Card Making Day yesterday! We decided to create cards using Close To My Heart's Wishes Card Confidence Program. We used the "Just Because Card Workshop" from the program to make 20 cards using only 4 sheets of cardstock, 2 sheets of B&T Paper plus 20 card bases. WOW! That is a lot of cards for not a whole lot of paper!! Unfortunately we did not complete making all 20 cards but still had a great time. The cards pictured are what I created with the program. All cards excluding the first card pictured below are from the Just Because workshop.

Bath Time Layout

I am so sorry I have been so out of touch with Blogger lately. I am now homeschooling my son and it is taken so much of my free time. I do however try to do some scrapbooking while he is working and does not need my help. Here is a cute layout of my daughter Megan. In these photos she is 11 months old. She is 8 1/2 years old right now. Needless to say I am way behind on scrapping and I am trying to catch up on her baby album.

I used Close To My Heart's Animal Cookies Paper Packet. I just LOVE these papers for kid photos!! So much fun!! I also used some Jolee's 3-D foam stickers and my Cricut for the title.

Thanks for letting me share
